We train leaders, drive collaboration, reframe debates, and accelerate new social change organisations.

Training leaders

We train civil society leaders in strategy, digital, media, community organising, advocacy, fundraising, and team management.

Our flagship training program is the Progress Fellowship, a prestigious five-month program in Melbourne and Sydney (with an intensive version offered in Aotearoa New Zealand ). Our dynamic alumni community is more than 350-strong.

We regularly offer shorter courses, one-day workshops, and webinars; as well as specialist training programs in association with international guests.

Driving Collaboration

We drive collaboration across the non-profit sector, through conferences, online community, and co-working spaces.

Our flagship conference, Progress, convenes more than 1000 change-makers at Melbourne Town Hall every two years. We also run Australia’s key event for non-profit CEOs, Leadership; and the digital & grassroots organising practitioner event FWD + Organise.

We convene dynamic online discussion groups with thousands of participants; and are the lead-tenants of Progress Central, a co-working space in Melbourne, on the top floor of the beautiful DonkeyWheel House.

Re-framing Communications

We help diverse sectors re-frame their communications on complex issues.

Our approach is to convene, or be a key part of, collaborative projects that analyse existing debates, commission new message research, and suggest and more persuasive and positive communications frames.  Our work to date has focused primarily on climate change, people seeking asylum, and economic/social policy; and much has been delivered, or inspired by our collaboration, with US messaging expert Anat Shenker Osorio.

Accelerating new social change organisations

We help support new social change organisations, especially those that give voice to unrepresented communities. We identify promising leaders and initiatives, help them hone their concept, broker financial and pro-bono partnerships, provide office space, and assist with back-end administration, so they can focus on proving their impact.

Our work in this space is now delivered through Progress Labs, a partnership with the Australian Council of Social Service.
