The National Fellowship is an Australia-wide leadership course and skills turbo boost for a specific type of leader: people working to change the world through public advocacy and campaigning. Graduates of the National Fellowship program are fluent in campaign strategy, theory of change and confident in using a full suite of campaign tactics to achieve systems change.

The program will bring together a diverse cohort of 25 fellows representing different issue areas, sectors, skills, experiences and backgrounds from all across Australia.

Fellows will also join the Fellowship Alumni Network of 500+ fellows, who together will continue to provide each other with support, advice, collaborations and friendships for many years to come.

ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

The four-month program covers a deep dive into best practice campaign strategy approaches and tools, messaging and framing, communications strategy and practices, lobbying and decision-maker engagement, community and grassroots organising, digital campaigning tools and tactics, media engagement, civil disobedience, First Nations justice and more.

Due to the pandemic, the format of the National Fellowship program has been specifically redesigned for this moment. Run via Zoom, the program will include three virtual retreats, with 11 weekly Tuesday webinars in between and 2-3 hours of reading, homework and reflection each week. Retreats and webinars will also be run with leading expert trainers across the advocacy and campaigns space with case studies, interactive workshops and presentations.

Australian civil society is stronger when when the people working in social change have a diversity of experience and backgrounds. We strongly encourage applicants from all genders, cultures, languages, experiences and backgrounds to apply for the program, particularly those from outside of Melbourne and Sydney.

We are committed to providing an accessible program to all participants. For any questions about the program, please contact Phong at phong@australianprogress.org.au.
