Communications Director, Democracy in Colour

Aliya is the Communications Director at Democracy in Colour, a racial and economic justice advocacy organisation. As her role is a volunteer role, she also works at the Council to Homeless Persons, the peak body for homelessness in Victoria, as the organisation's Senior Media Adviser. A Muslim Pakistani migrant, she is particularly passionate about advocating for racial justice by amplifying the voices of people of colour. Aliya is currently studying a Masters of Public Policy and Management. She hopes to learn how to use campaigning tactics to influence public policies and decolonise existing structures of power.
