Leonardo Guida

SHARK CAMPAIGNER, AUSTRALIAN MARINE CONSERVATION SOCIETY (AMCS)

Leonardo has been fascinated by sharks for as long as he can remember and as a kid he had always wanted to be a marine biologist when he grew up. He feels lucky to have been able to live the dream. In 2016, Leonardo completed his PhD studying sharks at Monash University. During his PhD, Leonardo also co-founded Remember The Wild, an environmental. It was through these collective experiences that he fully appreciated the power of science communication and community empowerment. As of August 2018, he was appointed to lead the Australian Marine Conservation Society’s (AMCS) multi-year “Sharks Campaign” – a dream gig to say the least. The campaign focuses on the conservation of Australia’s sharks and rays by improving fishery sustainability and the protection of threatened species. Leonardo looks forward to the journey ahead with AMCS.
