Jeanine Hourani

DIRECTOR, ROAD TO REFUGE

Jeanine Hourani is the Program Director of the ‘In My Own Words Program’ at Road to Refuge. The program aims to equip young people from refugee backgrounds with the skills and opportunities they need to tell their own stories, in their own words and on their own terms. My role at Road to Refuge is a volunteer one. Jeanine also works full-time as a Public Policy Consultant. Jeanine hopes to merge her two passions for Public Policy and Refugee Advocacy. She hopes to influence policy in order to lobby for interventions and programs that better meet the needs of people seeking refuge or asylum in Australia, and reform the current system by changing the nature of the problem we are solving from a humanitarian disaster to a development opportunity.
