KARA MATHESON
Education Officer, Hunter Community Languages
Kara manages Hunter Community Languages, which supports migrant groups to open and operate language and culture schools for their communities. Kara oversees around 200 schools and supports 64 languages being taught to over 34,000 students in NSW. She has also taught languages for over 20 years at Sydney TAFE, offering training to children and adults in Mindfulness (MBSR) and Nonviolent Communication (NVC). In her current role, Kara write courses and train volunteers in language teaching methodology. She also lives on a 50-acre farm where her family and endeavours to care for the soil through practicing regenerative agriculture.
