FUNDRAISING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER, HELP AUCKLAND

Rebekah started out her social justice career when she was working at Statistics NZ and queried why the department hadn’t thought to ASK people what they thought about the department collecting huge amounts of personal data from other agencies – or if they even knew it was happening. Since then, Rebekah has worked for a range of not-for-profits, including the disability, foster care, homelessness and sexual abuse sector. One of her proudest achievements is her campaign with ActionStation to the age of state care so that foster kids didn’t end up homeless on their 17th birthday. Rebekah is currently the Fundraising & Communications Manager for HELP Auckland, NZ’s largest agency to support survivors of sexual abuse, where she does all of the fundraising, social marketing, events, media liaison, and communications. She also runs youth-led social marketing campaigns through www.dearem.nz, a site to empower 13-18 year old girls, and to help the 1 in 3 girls sexually abused in NZ.
