Schools COORDINATOR, Australian Youth Climate Coalition

Tom coordinates the AYCC schools program, Switched on Schools. Tom is excited about participation and youth-centred empowerment. Before taking on this role, he spent 18 months with a Ghanaian youth–centred NGO. He worked with staff to empower young people and their communities to fight child trafficking and the worst forms of child labour. Living in the global south, he became aware of the devastating effects that climate change has on those already marginalised through poverty. Previous to this he held the position of Union Organiser for 2 years. This saw him work with educators on a campaign for recognition and respect for the early childhood education and care sector.
